I don’t know why we stuck to a vague plan made a week ago, that today we’d take a boat trip to Greenwich. We sweltered on two buses, melted in a long queue for river bus tickets, baked on a forty minute boat trip and boiled at lunch in the Maritime Museum. Disembarking at Embankment I remembered the fountains at Somerset House and we spent a joyful hour watching Eve and Leah getting gloriously soaked in this essential right of passage for inner London children. Arriving home after a further long hot bus ride, yet more water was required, this time in an exclusive pink tub.
